Explanation: What's happened to the setting Sun? An eclipse! In early 2009,
the Moon eclipsed part of the Sun as visible from parts of Africa, Australia,
and Asia [7] . In particular the featured image [8] , taken from the Mall of
Asia [9] seawall, caught a partially eclipsed Sun setting over Manila [10] Bay
[11] in the Philippines [12] . Piers are visible in silhouette [13] in the
foreground. Eclipse chasers [14] and well placed sky enthusiasts [15]
captured many other interesting and artistic images [16] of the year's only
annular solar eclipse [17] , including movies [18] , eclipse shadow arrays
[19] , and rings of fire [20] . On Thursday parts of the Sun [21] again will
become briefly blocked by the Moon, again visible [22] to some as a partial
eclipse [23] of the Sun. Thursday's eclipse [24] , however, will only be
visible from parts of southern South America and Antarctica.

Tomorrow's picture: blue comet cluster [25]
