The Island of Kauai (The Garden Island of the Hawaiian Chain) is a
wonderful destination for waterfalls, canyons, and lush vegetation.
Geologically Kauai is the second oldest of the main Hawaiian
Islands. With an area of 562.3 square miles (1456 square km), it is the
fourth largest of the Hawaiian Islands, and the 21st largest island
   of the United States.

One of the many waterfalls to see while visiting this paradise is
Opaekaa Falls (means “Rolling Shrimp”), which is situated on the
east side of the island. To admire the falls from a distance there is a
drive-in lookout from Route 580, on the Kuamoo Road, located just west
of Wailua. This 151 ft. (46m) high falls splits into three
cascading channels that spill down a narrow valley. The day I visited
this spot with my wife, we happened upon a local artist whom I think
you will agree, captured the scene beautifully. Photo taken on February
   1st, 2006.
